Commenting on a report in the Malay section of Malaysiakini, Lim said in a statement that it would be better for City Hall to show the same enthusiasm in having the cleanest public toilets or the best public park to be listed in the Malaysia Book of Records and the Guinness World Record.

"Or perhaps they should have a contest and give prizes to those who manage to catch rats from the back alleys or collect the most rubbish from the Klang river," he said.

Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib was quoted as saying yesterday that City Hall was working with a private craft training company to produce the largest handbag in the world and the longest sofa in Malaysia to make a bid for the Guinness World Record and the Malaysia Book of Records respectively.

He had said the bag would be able to fit two Myvi cars and is expected to be ready on May 29.

Phesal had said that the handbag and sofa would be made of used clothes and the projects were aimed at enhancing people's awareness towards recycling.

Lim, however, said that the projects were a waste of time and money.

"It is as if City Hall has nothing better to do to benefit the people.

"Let us hope that the mayor will leave a better legacy when his contract ends in July," the lawmaker said. – May 19, 2015.
