State Education director Rusni Abdul Jalil said the department would conduct a thorough investigation on the incident.

"We will take action against the teacher according to the standard operating procedure if she is proven guilty," she said.

The case went viral on Facebook as the mother appealed to the state education department to take action against the teacher.

According to Norhimah Ibrahim, 34, her eight-year-old son, who attends a special education class at the school, was also beaten by the teacher on March 1.

The incident took place during recess when the student refused to return to class after buying a plate of fried kway teow from the school canteen.

The boy was understood to have raised his voice against an assistant teacher who requested him to go back to his class, informing her that he still wanted to eat.

The teacher then reported the incident to the discipline teacher who was also eating at the canteen.

The discipline teacher was said to have approached the student and pushed away the plate of kway teow before taking the food and rubbing it in his face.

The teacher was also said to have pushed the student's head and hit his shoulder.

All this was seen by Norhimah's 10-year-old daughter who also goes to the same school, she alleged.

Norhimah then lodged a police report, filed a complaint at the district education office, and transferred her son to another school after the incident.

Seremban police chief Muhamad Zaki Harun confirmed a report was made.

"Investigations will be carried out on the matter," he added. – March 11, 2016.
