Whether they line up for the nostalgic prices of 50 sen nasi lemak in Cheras, experiment with nasi lemak in gelato, pizza, or sushi form, sometimes you just want the classic offerings, and here are some of the best for those who happen to be in Shah Alam area.

Restoran Ceria

A low-hanging awning outlines the shop lot of Restoran Ceria, creating an impressive spread of shade for diners to enjoy.

The staff here was friendly, quickly but happily fixing up plate after plate of steaming nasi lemak. Cheerful smells and smiles accompanied our journey down the line of dishes, tickling our appetites into rumbling our bellies.

With one bite, we KL-ite nasi lemak lovers could see why regulars swear that this spot is the best in Shah Alam.

We couldn’t get enough of the sambal for one. Sweet with a biting spice, we couldn’t get enough of it, polishing off each dollop with spoonfuls of creamy rice.

Later, we could still feel it on the tip our tongues, teasing us for the next half hour, tempting us to go back and get another plate.

The chicken was also amazing, juicy and flavourful inside while maintaining a savoury, crisp outer batter.

We like to think our in-house recipe for it is pretty good, but this place just blew our own efforts in the kitchen out of the water.

We will gladly pay that much again here.

Now that’s done, let’s focus on how it tastes.

The rice was fluffy and tasted of creamy coconut, each mouthful a pillow of satisfaction. Don’t be shy and ladle as much as you want from the line onto your platter.
