Food writers have a short-term memory when it comes to the massive amounts of food we inhale everyday. 2015 in general, was a good year for food and their restaurants.

So, which restaurants or cafes did HungryGoWhere adore most among the shiny new and golden oldie restaurants? Let us know what you think!

Suraya Seafood

Suraya’s Seafood main restaurant provides plenty of indoor seating and traditional Malay and Thai-inspired food. The portions are well-priced for KL and best served family-style, which is perfect for the families that return here often.

Besides their amazing in-house food, they also serve dishes from the smattering of small stalls that have gathered under its welcome shade, creating a little ecosystem that fills each table with sumptuous dishes. Truly one of Kampung Baru's gems!

Rennie's House of Oxtail

No bull, this is the best oxtail in town. – HungryGoWhere pic, January 11, 2016.No bull, this is the best oxtail in town. – HungryGoWhere pic, January 11, 2016.Everyone has a dish that comforts them in their darkest times, but it's rare to find one that speaks to the soul of almost everyone at the table. This is Rennie’s House of Oxtail’s offering, possibly the only oxtail soup in town that will have everyone comfortably sharing a meal in silence. Garlic bread and reservations are highly encouraged as they run out quickly, and if you've tried them, you'll understand why.

Vishal Food & Catering

The spices in the food are amplified by the din of this canteen-style restaurant, contributing to a full dining experience for traditional Indian food.

Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh

Our pick of the street. Eat your way through if you don’t believe us. – HungryGoWhere pic, January 11, 2016.Our pick of the street. Eat your way through if you don’t believe us. – HungryGoWhere pic, January 11, 2016.SS15 in Subang is known for its entire row of shophouses selling bak kut teh, but our all-time favourite is Yu Kee. This thick herbal broth has people coming back – even sitting in the streets – for some of this potent goodness.

Chunburi Seafood

Like its vibrant colours, it doesn’t pull punches. – HungryGoWhere pic, January 11, 2016.Like its vibrant colours, it doesn’t pull punches. – HungryGoWhere pic, January 11, 2016.If Sambal Hijau is your favourite spot for nasi campur, then add Chunburi to your list. Located in Kampung Baru, this place opens at 12.30pm sharp, serving a long line of lauk with dishes including everything from rendang to gulai, curry and sambal dishes, and plenty of vegetables of course. We especially love the nasi kerabu here.

Old School Cafe

Old school dishes, new style. – HungryGoWhere pic, January 11, 2016.Old school dishes, new style. – HungryGoWhere pic, January 11, 2016.For the ultimate porcine meal, pay a trip to Old School Cafe for all sorts of dishes that have incorporated this sweet meat wonderfully. The simple pulled pork burger (RM14.90) is a must-try, but our absolute favourite? The localised non-halal pork nasi lemak. The restaurant is themed to look like a school, so don't be surprised to find yourself sitting at wooden desk, with the menu on chalkboards and waiters dressed in uniforms!

Mario & Luigi

Italian with a jazzy spin to it. – HungryGoWhere pic, January 11, 2016.Italian with a jazzy spin to it. – HungryGoWhere pic, January 11, 2016.An Italian cucina and bar duo hidden in the leafy streets of Lorong Kurau, Mario & Luigi is a quiet eatery that serves up beautiful modern Italian cuisine without skimping on its fresh ingredients. They keep their focus on lunch specials and foodie-centric dinners, introducing new Italian specialties from time to time that regulars seems eager to try.
