Merdeka is more than just our day of independence, but is about the unity and diversity that makes Malaysia unique and beautiful.

To celebrate Hari Merdeka, why not embark on a food trail of eateries in Kuala Lumpur city that are as iconic and culturally diverse as our nation's heritage.

Breakfast of champs

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so they say, and we have to agree especially if it's at Santa Chapati House at Jalan Tun HS Lee. Delicious and fluffy chapatis to go with rich and aromatic dhal will surely start your engine straight away.

Down it all with a glass of frothy, creamy teh tarik and you're all ready to join in the Merdeka procession at Dataran Merdeka!

A Lunch of nostalgia and diversity

It's also just as happening, and you'll see why if you drop by for a visit. Their nasi padang is absolutely delicious, with a wide selection of lauk ripe for the picking.

It is a perfect place for a hearty lunch, as well as to enjoy the sights and sounds of a KL from bygone years.

If old waiters and antique furnishings are your thing, Coliseum Café and Grill Room is just the right place.

Their crème caramel pudding and apple pie with vanilla ice cream would be perfect on a hot afternoon. You can even steal a swig of your favourite pint at the adjoining bar after your snack!
