Hiding among the seven floors of The Gardens Mall in Kuala Lumpur’s Mid Valley City are various dining outlets, each offering a unique range of culinary delights.

These dining destinations are apt for diverse occasions, be it for just a quick pick-me-up meal or a night out in town with friends and loved ones.

Here, we zoom in on five of these delectable features to help you – and your appetite – make the most of your next visit to The Gardens Mall.

Ori Udon

If it is a hearty bowl of fresh udon that you want, head on over to Ori Udon, which rests on The Gardens Mall’s Lower Ground Floor.

Favourites here include the house special dry udon (RM7.90) and karaage (RM5). The former is highlighted by chewy noodles that take on a noticeable silkiness due to the inclusion of egg yolk in the dish, while the latter is established by crunchy fried chicken pieces that are both juicy and flavourful.

For rice lovers, the tori don (RM9.90) makes a filling bite, with its generous serving of small chicken pieces.

When it comes to Malay cuisine, it is almost impossible to avoid talking about Belanga and its many delicious offerings.

One particularly famous dish here would be the nasi kerabu ayam percik (RM21.70), which boasts a succulent piece of chicken, a flavourful salted egg and a good dose of crunchy keropok, making for a meal that plays on both flavours and textures.

Pair this with one of Belanga’s famous drinks, such as the creamy and decadent avocado juice (RM14.80), and you would have a dining session that will probably leave you filled with happiness.

In the mood for Mexican food? Pop by Fresca, where cocktails and Mexican delicacies are must-haves.

Common favourites include Ensenada-style fish tacos (RM22), a dish which is comprised of tacos that house fish that has been battered with beer before being cooked.

Then, if you find yourself in the mood for a kick of alcohol, opt for a glass of the restaurant’s reputed jalapeno margarita (RM28).

To enjoy this beverage, it is advised that you first take a sip of the margarita before biting off a bit of the jalapeno. Be warned though: this may be a drinking experience that you will not forget anytime soon.

This, however, does not imply that it holds back on quality. An Viet’s bun cha (RM17.90) was a true delight to devour, with its incredibly fragrant and flavourful grilled pork and gravy.

Match it with a serving of the restaurant’s aromatic and creamy Vietnamese drip coffee with egg yolk (RM8.90), and you have a meal that is likely to keep you smiling throughout the day.

This restaurant is a favourite among guests of The Gardens Mall and those who work in Mid Valley City because of the vast variety of its offerings and its value for money.

Popular options include the stewed beef in hot pot set meal (RM25.30) for its flavour and melt-in-your-mouth texture, as well as the three varieties of supreme diced chicken (RM24.30) which is acclaimed for its gravy that unites soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine, and basil.

Each set meal comes side dishes and rice, although you may wish to clarify what you will be getting in your set specifically with your waiter during your visit.
