With Valentine’s Day around the corner, show your loved one you care by bringing home a heart-shaped doughnut asking them to "Bee mine" or a caffeinated dessert drink laden with chocolate drizzle and whipped cream to help them kick-start their day.
Here’s a look at a few fast food chains that are feeling the love this year.
Starbucks
Until February 14, Starbucks stores across the US and Canada will be serving up a trio of new Valentine’s Day drinks for the chocoholic lover in your life. The theme is "molten chocolate". As in, molten chocolate, latte, Frappuccino and hot chocolate, with varying degrees of whipped cream, mocha drizzle and chocolate chippage.
Dunkin’ Donuts
Never one to miss out on the occasion to shape their doughnut batter into hearts, this year Dunkin’ Donuts offers heart-shaped varieties Brownie Batter, filled with brownie batter-flavoured buttercreme filling, and Cookie Dough, filled with cookie dough-flavoured buttercreme filling.
Krispy Kreme
Not to be outdone, Krispy Kreme also has a trio of Valentine’s Day doughnuts with names like Luv Bug, featuring a lady bug face and Bee Mine, that features a bumble bee.
Boston’s in the US and Boston Pizza in Canada
Foresee a quiet night in this Valentine’s Day Sunday? The cross-border pizza chains are offering to reshape your pizza into a quaint heart to help you mark the holiday, be it with a partner, or with a gaggle of your fellow singleton friends. Boston’s will also donate 50 cents to No Kid Hungry until February 14.
Likewise, Canadian chain Boston Pizza will donate US$1 (RM4.19) for every pizza sold on Valentine’s Day to the chain’s own in-house mentoring program Future Prospects.
Baskin-Robbins
After noshing on heart-shaped pizza, cap off the night with a special frozen dessert also created specifically for the occasion. This year, Baskin-Robbins has concocted a chocolate Teddy Bear Cake, made with chocolate icing and Oreo cookies. Heart Cakes also allow customers to write personalised messages to their sweetheart and can be customised with any ice cream and cake flavour. – AFP/Relaxnews, February 9, 2016.
