PKR Youth supports a coalition to push for reforms and is calling for a joint discussion to bring together political parties, civil society groups, academicians and individuals.
Its deputy chief Dr Afif Bahardin said the coalition must unite for change to create a just, trustworthy and honest government.
"It is now time for leaders to prove their leadership to realise the demands of Reformasi, which is the alternative to the present administration.
"Leaders who have been picked must move in the right direction towards the agenda of change that is the ambition of the people, and they must be capable to lead when change happens," he said in a statement today.
Afif said he supported former deputy prime minister and former Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's recent call for institutional reforms.
Muhyiddin, after he was suspended as the Umno deputy president last Friday, said institutional reform was needed beyond the removal of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He said institutional reforms must be more holistic as it was not enough to just have the prime minister removed from office.
Afif said Muhyiddin's call had given a boost to the Reformasi movement and the youths who support the long struggle for reform.
Muhyiddin's call for reform had also received support from several Pakatan Harapan leaders, including PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Afif said youths today were inspired by bold leaders and statesmen who had substance and would cast aside narrow politics for the interest of the country and its people.
He said youths believed that they must start something new for Malaysia, learn from history, not be complacent and create a new history and determine a new future for the country.
"The new union called by Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali for all parties to unite in the desire to take over the leadership of the country should be received with open hearts for the good of the people." – February 29, 2016.
