The army will optimise its expenses especially in purchasing assets following the challenging global economic situation.
Therefore, Army Chief General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor said the army needed to make realignment.
"That means we have to make adjustments. For example, if the asset is supposed to be supplied within two years, so, now we make it three years," he told reporters at the Army Day 83rd anniversary parade at the Basic Army Training Centre in Port Dickson, today
Also present were Army Deputy Chief Lt Gen Datuk Ahmad Hasbullah Mohamad Nawawi, Western Region Field Commander Lt Gen Datuk Seri Zulkiple Kassim and Eastern Region Field Commander Lt Gen Datuk Mohd Zaki Mokhtar.
General Affandi said the government was supporting the planned programme and he was confident that the plan would become a reality.
He said the army had set up the "Army for Next Generation" (Army 4nextG) as the continuation plan for the "Army 2 10 Plus 10" which would reach its height in four years.
"A committee has been set up to produce documents for Army 4nextG which will become a reality soon," he said.
A total of 157 army officers and 3,425 personnel of various ranks took part in the parade led by Training and Doctrine Commander Maj Gen Datuk Tengku Ahmad
Noor Tuan Chik.
In the parade, General Affandi presented the "Pingat Perkhidmatan Setia" award to 10 army personnel of various ranks while eight personnel of various ranks and three civil servants received the "Sijil Kepujian Ketua Perkhidmatan". – Bernama, March 1, 2016.
