Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said must explain why she "contradicted" the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) with her claim that it did not find any corruption activities by the prime minister throughout its probe into SRC International Sdn Bhd, says Tony Pua.
The DAP lawmaker said the MACC Oversight Panel had already recommended that investigation papers into the case be resubmitted to the attorney-general (A-G).
"The MACC Oversight Panel statement could only mean that the investigation is still incomplete.
"Azalina must clarify why her statement contradicted that of MACC's. Has she misled the Parliament in her reply in order to exonerate her direct superior Datuk Seri Najib Razak?” he said in a press conference in Parliament.
He said DAP would consider referring the minister in the Prime Minister's Department to the House Committee of Rights and Privileges for intentionally misleading the Parliament if she failed to explain.
Responding to Pua's allegations, Azalina said she did not understand what he was trying to say.
"Referring to Tony Pua’s press statement today, I would like to clarify that my written reply to him, dated March 9, 2016, is based on the official statement by the attorney-general on January 26, 2016.
“I don’t understand Tony Pua who said I may have confused the Dewan Rakyat in my reply to his oral question,” she said in a statement.
On January 26, A-G Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali said Najib had not committed any wrongdoing after having examined the investigation papers involving SRC International and the RM2.6 billion donation. – March 14, 2016.
