A 30-year-old man who had earlier claimed to be a member of the terrorist group Daesh (Isis) and threatened a soldier with a bomb will seek to withdraw the charge against him.
The accused, Muhammad Hudzaifah Shubli Yasin's counsel Shamsul Sulaiman told magistrate Husna Dzulkifly today that he would submit a letter of representation to the Attorney-General's Chambers before March 22.
Counsel said the move was based on the accused's mental health examination report from Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak.
"Based on the report, Muhammad Hudzaifah Shubli was not in his right mind during the alleged incident and unaware of his actions and the consequences.
"He was diagnosed to have early symptoms of the illness in 2006. Then in 2008, he was confirmed to be suffering from bipolar mood disorder," said Shamsul.
On January 22, the former International Islamic University Malaysia student claimed trial to criminal intimidation by putting fear into a sentry at Kem Kementah, Jalan Padang Tembak, Wangsa Maju, that he was carrying a bomb.
He allegedly committed the offence at 8.10pm on January 20 this year.
Muhammad Hudzaifah Shubli was a candidate for the Students' Representative Council at his former university in 2012.
Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Zikri Jaafar objected to bail for the accused.
But Shamsul mitigated that the accused's condition would deteriorate if he is confined in prison.
The court set RM5,000 as bail in one surety and March 22 for re-mention. – Bernama, February 29, 2016.
