removal of Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail as the attorney-general despite the latter making a public appearance at a forum yesterday.
Putrajaya today insisted that health reasons were the main motivation behind theGani had said he was "fine" and in good health when he appeared at a forum on the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) 2012 in Kuala Lumpur last night.
When questioned by Gobind Singh Deo (DAP-Puchong), de facto law minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri insisted that Gani was undergoing "dialysis" at the time of his removal.
"I know about his appearance at the forum. Maybe now not much, but when the decision was made he was doing dialysis often," Nancy said in Parliament today while winding up the Budget 2016 debate.
"Bear in mind, whatever happened, the process was done legally," she added.
Gani was removed controversially and abruptly in July this year as the A-G with Putrajaya citing his health as a reason.
But Gobind said that Gani's appearance at last night's forum had raised suspicions if he was really replaced due to his health. – November 4, 2015
