Wan Junaidi made honorary commissioner of Prison Department

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was today made an honorary commissioner of the Prison Department.

He received his rank insignia from Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also home minister, at a celebration to mark the 226th National Prison Day today.

Wan Junaidi received the honour in his previous post as deputy home minister for contributing to the betterment of the department in the aspect of prisoners' rehabilitation.

Also similarly honoured was state Welfare, Woman and Family Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah and Orang Kota Baru (OKB) Association chairman Datuk Sheikh Ahmad Dasuki Sheikh Mohamad.

They were both appointed as honorary senior assistant commissioners.

At the function, 10 prison officers from throughout the nation were promoted to prison superintendents.

They also received their new rank insignia from Zahid and Prison Department commissioner-general Datuk Seri Zulkifli Omar. – Bernama, February 20, 2016.
