The portal reported Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan as saying that holding down two jobs was not uncommon as it was done by many around the world.

“I think it’s not wrong (to have two jobs) in Malaysia, though we have regulations, but it is still one way to address the rising cost of living.

“They can work during office hours (from 8am to 5pm) and still run their online business... As long as they have enough sleep and come to work. They can run their businesses on weekends,” Ahmad was quoted as saying.

Civil servants, too, could run online businesses but the main commitment should be their day job, the portal reported.

Ahmad said the government supported such efforts through online portals eUsahawan and eRezeki.

“So this (having two jobs) is also in line with what is being done by the government,” he said in Johor yesterday. – December 27, 2015.
