Americans more likely to ban books than any other media
A new Harris Poll shows that since 2011, the percentage of American adults who feel there are books on sale that should be banned has jumped from 18% to 28%.
In a country with a constitutional right to freedom of expression, only 48% of the 2,244 adults surveyed felt that there are no books that should be banned completely.
When quizzed about other types of media, just 16% of Americans felt that there were films or TV shows that should be banned and 24% felt the same way about video games.
However, 40% of respondents admitted that they are more likely to reach for a book if it has caused controversy and 30% would be more inclined to read a book if it has been banned. – AFP/Relaxnews, July 9, 2015.
