Book lovers unite to create the ‘world’s longest tattoo chain’
A series of stylish temporary literary tattoos has taken Kickstarter by storm, resulting in what is believed to be the longest tattoo chain in the world.
"Litographs tattoos: wearable tributes to iconic books" is a collection of famous literary excerpts printed as temporary tattoos with original artwork.
The selection includes quotations from Oscar Wilde, William Shakespeare and James Joyce.
The interactive campaign also includes the entire text of the Lewis Carroll work "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass," broken down into 5,000 quotations.
Each phrase was designed to be printed once, with pledgers uploading a photo of themselves wearing their unique phrase on the Lithographs website to form the entire text.
The concept proved to be a massive hit: although the crowdfunding campaign still has several days to go, the tattoo chain has already been completed, with both novels displayed across the bodies of thousands of readers.
However, non-Lewis Carroll tattoos are still available to purchase via the campaign.
Litographs specialises in clothing and interior accessories featuring quotations from classic works of literature.
"Our mission has always been to help readers express their passion for the books they love, and our tattoos are a natural extension of this philosophy," explained the company. – AFP/Relaxnews, August 10, 2014.
