‘Go Set a Watchman’ sells 1 million copies in US and Canada
More than 1.1 million copies of Harper Lee's "Go Set a Watchman" have been sold in the US and Canada since the book went on sale on July 14, making it the fastest-selling book in the history of publisher HarperCollins.
The publisher announced on Monday that it has also printed more than 150,000 copies of the Spanish-language version for the US, Latin America, and Spain.
In all, the publisher currently has more than 3.3 million of the books in print.
While written before Lee's classic novel "To Kill a Mockingbird", "Watchman" is actually a sequel to that novel. Bringing back the characters of Atticus Finch and Scout, it is set among the turmoil of the American South of the 1950s and has both earned praise and sparked controversy in the week since its release. – AFP/Relaxnews, July 21, 2015.
