Graphic novel ‘Wytches’ nabs film deal
It only made its debut at the New York Comic Con over the weekend, but “Wytches” is already on its way to cinemas after it was snapped up by production company New Regency of “12 Years a Slave”.
Written by Eisner award winner Scott Snyder (“American Vampire”, “The Wake”), illustrated by Mark Simpson (aka Jock of “Detective Comics”, “2000AD”), and inked by Eisner winner Matt Hollingsworth (also “The Wake”), Image Comics' “Wytches” follows the Rooks family as they attempt to settle in a new town.
Key to events is teenage daughter Sailor, who experienced a traumatic bullying event prior to the move and is struggling to work out what really happened.
Having acquired the rights, New Regency is working with its "12 Years a Slave" partner, Plan B, according to Deadline. That's an outfit with recent experience when it comes to adapting comic book material, with "World War Z" casting Brad Pitt in its lead role, and the upcoming "Black Hole" in development, based as it is on a 12-issue Harvey Award winner of the same name. – AFP/Relaxnews, October 14, 2014.
