Jackie Collins dies of breast cancer at 77
Jackie Collins, who was famed for novels such as Hollywood Wives and The Stud, has died in Los Angeles of breast cancer. She was 77.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today,” her family said in a statement.
All 32 of her novels, which also include The Bitch and The World Is Full of Married Men, appeared on The New York Times bestseller list.
She had fought breast cancer for more than six years.
“She was a true inspiration, a trailblazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words,” added the statement from her three daughters, Tracy, Tiffany, and Rory.
Collins and her sister Joan Collins, 82, famously found great success at trading on the Hollywood early-bad girl mystique they had, both on screen and off.
Jackie had lived in California for years, and was a naturalised US citizen. – Agencies, September 20, 2015.
