After celebrations in 2014 marked the 100th anniversary of the poet's birth, Literature Wales is keeping the buzz going with International Dylan Thomas Day, to be held every year on May 14. The significance of the date: May 14, 1953 marked the premiere of his drama "Under Milk Wood" at the 92Y Poetry Center in New York.

Literature Wales is behind the inaugural event and many of the day's activities will be focused in and around Thomas's birthplace of Swansea, included free guided tours at the Dylan Thomas Centre, a screenings of "Under Milk Wood" at the Taliesin Arts Centre and an open mic at Mozart's Bar.

Raising a glass is how many will likely choose to commemorate the notoriously hard-drinking poet, and in London a Literary Pub Crawl has been planned with Thomas in mind.

In New York, the 92Y Poetry Center is offering up a recording of "Under Milk Wood," from a 2014 centenary reading directed by and starring Michael Sheen and featuring an all-Welsh cast. It will be available on demand on May 14.

In Turin, Italy, the Immagine & Poesia Association Centre will display paintings, digital art, photos, installations and poems by six artists and two poets who took inspiration from the poet and his writings.

Worldwide, all can take part via social media. The Dylan Thomas Centre (@DTCSwansea) will host a Twitter Exchange featuring what it calls "further conversations from the residents of Llareggub," the fictional setting for "Under Milk Wood," and sharing selfies is encouraged.

Follow and participate online using the hashtag #DylanDay.
