Apple electric car could be available by 2019
Apple is increasing manpower and effort in order to accelerate the development of their first electric car, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The technology giant is putting its expertise in a new industry: the electric automobile.
WSJ reports that, according to "people familiar with the matter", Apple has given the green light to the project – codenamed "Titan" – by increasing the workforce and setting a 2019 deadline for engineers.
Contrary to intitial assumptions, the vehicle will not be a driverless car, putting it into direct competition with Tesla, who confirmed back in 2013 that they had been in communication with Apple.
Other potential competitors are Nissan, Chevrolet, BMW, and Ford, with many other brands also developing electric vehicles. – AFP Relaxnews, September 22, 2015.
