World Car of the Year award goes to Mercedes-Benz
The compact executive car from Mercedes-Benz has won the 2015 World Car Awards, with the Volkswagen Passat and Ford Mustang its fellow finalists.
World Car Awards jurors praised the C-Class for its "all-new aluminum/steel hybrid platform and updated rear-drive powertrains that delivers levels of refinement, luxury, safety, ride and handling that challenge best-in-class."
Seventy-five automotive journalists from 22 countries comprised the international jury panel, with their decision announced at the New York International Auto Show on April 2.
Volkswagen's Passat won European Car of the Year in early March.
The Mercedes-Benz group accumulated several other accolades at the 2015 WCAs – World Luxury Car (Mercedes-Benz S Coupé) and World Performance Car (Mercedes AMG GT) – with World Car Design of the Year going to the Citroën C4 Cactus and World Green Car awarded to BMW's hybrid sports performance vehicle, the i8. – AFP/Relaxnews, April 3, 2015.
