Shared memories in a mug
One of Linda Chong’s fondest memories as a child was waking up to the smell of a hot cup of Milo along with a delicious, home-cooked breakfast. From a simple meal of toast and jam, or a delicious plate of fried noodles, breakfast was always a labour of love from her mother.
“I guess like all kids, I took it for granted that breakfast – just like everything else our parents do for us – was no big deal. Because we always had it laid out for us in the mornings,” said Chong, now a mother of two young children herself.
She received a rude shock when she discovered how difficult it was to plan, prepare and execute not only delicious meals, but more importantly, healthy ones for her kids, especially early in the mornings.
“I’m a working mother, and I need to wake up way before the crack of dawn to prepare myself for work on top of preparing my children’s food. Most days, I’m at a loss as to what to give them as I want to ensure they have a nutritious and energy-filled start to the day.”
Chong’s predicament is not unlike most urban, middle-class families with both husband and wife in the workforce.
But in spite of her busy schedule, she was intent on ensuring that she didn’t compromise on nutrition. And that is where she discovered that even with the passing of time, certain things remain as reliable as before.
Just as she did as a child, Chong says her children, too, now wake up every morning to a mug of warm Milo.
It contains Activ-Go, a unique combination of protomalt, vitamins and minerals for the nourishing energy they need to stay active alert to accomplish their daily activities.
The nutrient-packed and malty-goodness of Milo has proven to be a hit with Chong’s children, and makes it so much more easier for her to ensure they have a balanced breakfast every morning.
She says it is also heart-warming that she is now practicing the same routine that her mother had lovingly set up for her as a child.
“On top of the nutritious start, it’s a bonus that my kids and I will have at least this one shared memory of waking up to the comforting smell of Milo filling the house,” said Chong. – December 14, 2015.
