Cafe-hopping in Desa Sri Hartamas
bakeries and cafes aren’t just places to get caffeinated or to take Instagram-worthy pictures.
The need for coffee is something all coffee hounds share butThey’re also places to meet up and have a casual drink with friends and family and for others, cafe food is what draws them.
So if you find yourself in Desa Sri Hartamas, here are some of HungryGoWhere’s recommended top cafes to check out.
Cafe Olle
Walk into the calm and cosy interior of Cafe Olle, a Korean-owned cafe, and grab a cuppa. Olle is a word in the Jeju Island dialect for ‘narrow pathway that connects the street to front gate of a house’. In fact, the trees that are planted outside their cafe are coffee trees!
Unpretentious but lovely nonetheless, their flat white (RM10) is smooth, creamy, and made with beans that are roasted in-house!
As for thirst quenchers, their Iced Citron Americano (RM11) really does hit the spot. The sweet and slightly tart citron makes the iced Americano extra refreshing and adds new layers of flavour to an otherwise boring Americano.
Amity
Amity is an out-of-the-way cafe that’s perfect if you’re looking for a quiet nook to read or do some work in. Their coffee is made with French-roasted beans which gives it a strong and slightly burnt taste. The flat white (RM11) tasted slightly of caramel due to the type of roast of the beans and was pleasantly smooth.
Located in Galeria Hartamas,The fajita wrap (RM19.90) with beef slices is made with marinated savoury and slightly spicy beef slices wrapped in a tortilla with assorted vegetables.
Great for lunch, dinner and supper, their kitchen closes at 10pm but the bar closes at 11.30pm.
Breadfruits
Breadfruits is actually more than that, it’s a hopping brunch nook! Try their Brunch Pasta with 7 minute egg (RM20.80) which is a light carbonara pasta made with sauteed mushrooms, bacon, rocket, and the perfect soft-boiled egg.
It looks like a fruit shop from the outside with bananas hanging in its window butTheir ‘Baked’ Breakfast (RM23.80) is served in a hot pan with baked pork sausage, bacon, sunny side up, shimeji mushroom, cherry tomato, cheese, arugula, and toast goes great with their Rise ‘N’ Shine (grapes, carrot, apple, orange) Energiser Juice (RM10.90).
