The list was handpicked by US-based blogger, The Ramen Rater, who has been reviewing instant noodles the world over since 2002.

“This is an honour for us. In this Merdeka month, we are pleased to show the world the Malaysia boleh spirit,” said Chan Meng Yang, general manager for marketing.

Topping the list was the Mamee Chef Curry Laksa flavour which the blogger said turned out “pretty much identical to the packaged version”. It beat out cup noodle entries from Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar and the US.

Coming in at third place was the “unique” Mamee Chef Lontong flavour, created in collaboration with Datuk Chef Ismail of Rebung and launched in June 2015.

Mamee Mie Goreng Indonesia Spicy Sambal flavour and Mamee Chef Creamy Tom Yam flavour were in fourth and eighth place respectively.

“The cup noodle is a great invention – it is portable and allows you to quickly serve up a hot meal that is ideal for a quick lunch or snack, at your work desk or just about anywhere on the go,” said Chan.
