Michelin has revealed its restaurant selections for the 11th edition of the Michelin Guide New York City.
The guide, which goes on sale yesterday, features nearly 900 restaurants – 76 of which have earned either one, two, or three Michelin stars.
A total of 61 different types of cuisine are displayed throughout the book, which covers the city's five boroughs.
The Modern under the direction of chef Abram Bissell has added a Michelin star, giving it two.
Meanwhile there are 10 newcomers to the one star category, including the Japanese restaurants Tempura Matsui, Sushi Yasuda, Cagen and Hirohisa.
Brooklyn's vegetarian-focused Semilla and The Finch also make the cut, while Somtum Der in the East Village, Gabriel Kreuther, Uncle Boons and Rebelle have been welcomed into the ranks.
Published for over 100 years, the Michelin Guides have become a benchmark in fine dining. The Michelin Guide New York City 2016 is priced at US$18.99. – AFP Relaxnews, October 2, 2015.
