A regular-sized plate of the eatery’s signature Malay-style char kway teow (RM5.50) goes perfectly with a glass of iced Horlicks (RM2.60). Not in the mood for char kway teow? The restaurant’s nasi lemak telur (RM3) or nasi lemak ayam (RM6) will fill you up just fine too.

10号 Mixed Rice

10号 Mixed Rice is a vibrant eatery in Desa Setapak attracts many with its extensive array of available dishes. The combinations at this economy rice outlet are—literally—endless! A plate of rice, matched with servings of stir-fried vegetables, eggs, baked beans, and lemon chicken will cost you only RM7.50. Throw in the fact that all diners can enjoy free flows of water or Chinese tea for no additional charges, and you have an instant crowd-pleaser.

Little Oven Bakery

Liquid gold as we like to call it. – HungryGoWhere pic, November 11, 2015.Liquid gold as we like to call it. – HungryGoWhere pic, November 11, 2015.For a bakery that uses mainly Japanese flour, no preservatives, and low amounts of sugar in its products, Little Oven Bakery certainly does not disappoint in flavour and variety – and at highly affordable prices, might we add. Its moist Japanese chocolate lava (RM4.90) is not too sugary and erupts with the richness of chocolate, while its Japanese cheese cake (RM6.30) is light and fluffy without sacrificing its velvety texture.

Red Famous Food Court

Pouches of prosperity, and they don’t cost too much either. – HungryGoWhere pic, November 11, 2015.Pouches of prosperity, and they don’t cost too much either. – HungryGoWhere pic, November 11, 2015.As its name implies, this eatery is essentially a food court that provides a large variety of culinary offerings. Our favourite? The Sarawak kolo mee (RM5), which comes loaded with slices of tender char siew and servings of rich minced pork. It is also a good idea to indulge in succulent and flavour-packed fried dumplings (RM5) from the eatery’s QQ Taiwanese noodles stall! Then, wash it all down with a refreshing cup of warm Chinese tea (RM0.50).
