Ramadan in full swing
15 Jul 2014 — Muslims throughout the world fast for the entire month of Ramadan, refraining from food and sexual intercourse from dusk to dawn. This fourth pillar of Islam serves to remind Muslims of the less fortunate, as well as to train them in self-control. Ramadan ends with the Eid, or Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and the final days of Ramadan are sometimes spent on shopping, although many feel spending excessively is unnecessary and against the spirit of the holy month.
