He said the country had a system of democracy based on election and the constitution to determine the rise and fall of the prime minister.

"In our country, there are specific avenues for the rise and fall of a prime minister and the former prime minister should know better than that and as such I fear Tun Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) has lost his credibility."

Last Friday, Dr Mahathir led a group of 50 people, including Lim Kit Siang of DAP and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Azmin Ali of PKR, to sign a declaration supporting the removal of Datuk Seri Najib Razak as prime minister.

The declaration was also signed by former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, former Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik.

On PAS announcing the formation of a new opposition block on March 16, Annuar said there were parties trying to imitate Barisan Nasional (BN) which cooperated with all political parties representing all races.

"History has proven we have a genuine coalition and we contest only on one symbol compared to others which cooperated but contested on their respective symbols and they quarrel soon after the election," he said adding that the concept practised by BN was based on a strong principle.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan yesterday said the party would be cooperating with a party to strengthen its position for the coming general election. He did not name the party. – Bernama, March 11, 2016.
