Papagomo’s property to be seized, auctioned off to pay damages to Anwar
Pro-Umno blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris will soon see his property seized and auctioned off to pay damages to former opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Also known as “Papagomo”, he has so far been unable to pay RM850,000 in damages to Anwar after losing a defamation case.
The writ of seizure and sale was sent to the blogger's home at Villa Danau Apartment, Danau Kota today by Anwar's lawyer Latheefa Koya, who was accompanied by court officers.
Wan Muhammad Azri was not at home to receive the writ.
“We will come again to give him the notice. We will get another date from the court,” Latheefa said.
In 2014, Anwar won his defamation suit against the blogger over the circulation of slanderous words and an image linking him to a sex video on the latter's blog site.
Judicial commissioner Rosilah Yop ordered Wan Muhammad Azri to pay RM800,000 in damages and RM50,000 legal cost to Anwar.
The politician had filed the suit against the blogger in March 2013, alleging that the latter had slandered him on his blog with malicious intent using vulgar words as well as a series of images claiming to be Anwar.
He also said the blogger had slandered his wife, daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar and son-in-law, claiming that the latter was engaged in homosexual activities.
Anwar had sought RM100 million in damages.
Last week, Wan Muhammad Azri was also fined RM4,300 by the Magistrate's Court for injuring a Pakistani worker in Wangsa Maju.
In January, a video showing the blogger beating up the foreigner went viral in the social media. – March 14, 2016.
