Ahmad Razif told the assembly he would fight any attempt to force him out or topple the BN state government.

“For those who have thoughts of ousting me and toppling the state government, please listen carefully. I will not bow down.

“I will continue to fight, despite facing mounting hurdles, and I will not give up,” Ahmad Razif was quoted as saying while replying to points raised during the debate on the royal address.

Today was the final day of the meeting.

Ahmad Razif told reporters later that 16 Umno assemblymen have signed a pledge to support the present state government.

Umno has 17 representatives in the 32-seat state assembly with the opposition holding 15.

Ahmad Said, the former Terengganu MB and Kijal assemblyman, yesterday tabled a no-confidence motion against his successor but the motion was rejected by Speaker Datuk Mohd Zubir Embong, who said Ahmad Said did not follow procedures when he proposed the motion.

Ahmad Said tabled the motion close to the afternoon recess.

Terengganu has 32 state assemblymen, comprising 17 from BN, including Ahmad Said, 14 from PAS and one PKR.

Today, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party was also not part of the tabling of the motion against Ahmad Razif and would only support such a move if there were reasonable issues involved.

He said PAS would not be involved in another party’s fight for positions.

Ahmad Razif replaced Ahmad Said as menteri besar in May 2014 after the latter was forced to resign.

Ahmad Said then announced his decision to exit Umno following his forced resignation. He retracted the decision shortly later. – March 9, 2016.
