The announcement appeared in The Times, the paper owned by Murdoch’s News Corporation, of which he is executive chairman.
The classified ad in the births, marriages and deaths page said: “Mr Rupert Murdoch, father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe Murdoch, and Miss Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel Jagger are delighted to announce their engagement.”
This is Murdoch’s fourth marriage and Hall’s first with the pair going public at the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles over the weekend.
Hall, 59, was “married” to Rolling Stone front-man Mick Jagger in a Hindu ceremony in Bali but they split in 1999.
Murdoch, 84, ended his marriage to Wendi Deng in 2014. – January 12, 2016.
