‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ still top of the global box office this weekend

Still holding onto second place was Oscar hopeful "The Revenant," which took US$61,000,000, while "Ride Along 2," starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, managed to take third spot in its opening weekend, taking in US$42,200,00.

Here are the top 10 worldwide box office estimates as of January 17:

1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens - US$72.4 million

2. The Revenant - US$61 million

3. Ride Along 2 - US$42.2 million

4. Daddy's Home - US$17.1 million

5. 13 Hours: The Secret - US$16 million

6. Boonie Bears III - US$16 million

7. Creed - US$15.3 million

8. The Big Short - US$12.2 million

9. Royal Treasure - US$11.5 million
