He ain’t heavy, he’s Bangladeshi – Jason Leong

The guys who help me pump petrol and fix my car are Bangladeshi.

The maid who comes fortnightly to clean my house is Indonesian.

The security guards at my building are Nepali.

The cooks manning the hawker stalls in my neighbourhood kopitiam are Vietnamese.

Collectively, immigrant workers cause me no harm and grief. In fact, my life is all the richer because of them.

These immigrant workers are no different from my ancestors, fleeing poverty in search of a brighter future.

No different from the Syrian refugees for whom we have no shortage of hashtags to affix upon our very public compassion towards.

But you know who has caused us Malaysians grief?

The idiots who drive recklessly and endanger us daily are mostly Malaysian.

The luxury car drivers who throw cigarrete butts out their windows are Malaysians.

The Oscar-winning actors who fake coughs and colds to seek MCs are Malaysians.

The so-called religious folk who would deny homosexuals their equal rights are Malaysians.

The politicians stealing our country's wealth wantonly are Malaysians.

Those who would seek to divide us so that we get distracted from real issues are Malaysians.

The idiots who deny Malaysia's place in the future by ignoring the importance of English are Malaysians.

Heck, the fool who wanted Deadpool censored is probably Malaysian.

So let us not worry about the influx of Bangladeshis. They won't be the ones to "destroy" our way of life or Malaysia itself.

Because when it comes to hurting Malaysia, nobody does it better than us Malaysians.

By the way, the polite term to address them is NOT "Bangla" but "Bangladeshi". – February 22, 2016.
