Fatehah part of Olympic team despite loss at UCI Championship

Despite failing to progress to the next round in the World Championships, there is light at the end of the tunnel for the 26-year-old Fatehah, as she still will carry Malaysia's challenge at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August.

"Its been a while here in London, finished my 5th World Championship here with a bit of disappointment with my result in keirin and sprint, maybe its not my lucky day but I'll come back strong soon... Insyaallah.

"I'm happy to be part of MALAYSIAN OLYMPIC TEAM to ‪#‎rioolympics2016‬... thanks  to Sime Darby for taking good care of me and @azizulawangofficial all these years!

Fatehah's position to compete at the Olympics was assured to fill the remaining two slots from the Asian continent, alongside Hong Kong's Lee Wai Sze, based on the sprint qualifying results.

In the sprint qualifying event held at Lee Valley VeloPark, Stratford, London, she clocked 11.334 seconds to settle in 25th place out of 33 riders.

The 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships is the last event that offers  qualifying points for the Olympics. – Bernama, March 6, 2016.
