Footballers banned for life can appeal to FAM
Players banned for their alleged involvement in a major football bribery scandal that rocked the country in 1994, can meet the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to make an appeal.
FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said banned players could either seek the assistance of the FAM or meet him in person to discuss.
"Any player in the list can make an appeal to the FAM... they can come straight to the FAM office or meet me," he told reporters when met after visiting former national goalkeeper Datuk Mohd Yusoff Abu Bakar who has been diagnosed with kidney stones.
Hamidin was commenting on a statement from the Kedah Ex-Footballers Association (Kefa) who urged FAM to study the life ban imposed on more than 200 players for their involvement in match-fixing or bribery in 1994, so that they can return to the football scene and offer their services for the development of football in the country.
Kefa had claimed that many among the banned players were very talented and could offer their services by identifying talent or offer their knowledge to budding players.
