Former 2007 All-England champion, Koo Kien Kiat/Tan Boon Heong pulled off a stunning upset against world number two men's doubles pair, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia in the second round of the prestigious All-England badminton championship  at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, England on Friday.

The unseeded pair showcased a splendid performance before securing a hard-fought 21-15, 15-21 and 21-17 win in the 49 minute-match.

Koo/Tan, who were the runners-up in the 2011 edition, will square-off either against compatriots Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong or fifth seeded, Chai Biao/Hong Wei of China in the quarterfinals.

The country's challenge in three other events – men's singles, women's singles and mixed doubles fizzled out after all players lost to their respective opponents in the opening round on Wednesday.

Malaysia did not send representatives in the women's doubles event of the tournament which offers a total prize money of US$550,000 (RM2.26 million). – Bernama, March 11, 2016.
