Malaysia to undergo centralised training ahead of Saudi match
Harimau Malaysia (national squad) chief coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee has called up 23 players for six days of centralised training beginning March 14 at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya for their final fixture in Group A of the World Cup 2018/Asian Cup 2019 against Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium on March 24.
FAM in a statement here today said, however, the players would be reporting for the national duty in stages as Selangor and Johor (JDT) players listed are involved in the AFC Cup.
Seven players have to report in on March 14, three of them Kelantan players namely Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor and Brendan Gan; three Terengganu players Joseph Kalang Tie, Yong Kuong Yong and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha; besides Pahang player Matthew Davies.
The four Selangor players called up namely team captain Muhammad Shahrom Abdul Kalam, Mohd Hafiz Kamal, Muhammad Nazmi Faiz Mansor and Mohd Azrif Nasrulhaq Badrul Hisham will be reporting on March 17 followed by three Kedah players, who are Baddrol Bakhtiar, Mohd Farhan Abu Bakar and Muhammad Amirul Hisyam Awang Kechik, two days later.
Eight JDT players and Perak's Shahrul Mohd Saad are to report in on March 20.
The JDT players are Izham Tarmizi Roslan, Mohd Aidil Zafuan Abdul Radzak, Mohd Fadhli Shas, Muhammad Fazly Mazlan, S. Chanturu, Safiq Rahim, Mohd Amri Yahyah and S. Kunanlan.
FAM also announced five players were placed on the reserve list in case any of the 23 players have injuries, namely Farizal Marlias and Mohd Nazrin Nawi( JDT); Ahmad Fakri Saarani (Kedah); K. Gurusamy (Sarawak); and Adam Nor Azlin (Sarawak).
The squad will be leaving for Jeddah on March 20 and after returning on March 25, they will be playing a Class A international friendly against Macau at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Malacca on March 29.
It will be the first international friendly for the team this year. – Bernama, March 11, 2016.
