Pandelela fails to advance to world series 10m platform final
National elite diver, Pandelela Rinong has failed to qualify for the final round of the women's 10m platform in the World Diving Series in Beijing, today.
Pandelela who could only muster fourth position out of six divers in th seemi-finals of group A, failed to progress to the final when the best three divers from the semi-finals of group A and B were selected for the next round.
According to Fina website, www.fina.org, after the fifth dive, Pandelela could only gather 286.0 points and her best attempt was in the second dive with 69 points.
The best three divers in the Group A semi-finals were Meaghan Benfeito of Canada with 357.30 points followed by Melissa Wu of Australia (344.40) and Laura Marino of France (298.45).
The best three divers in Group B were Ren Qian and Si Yajie of China with 372.85 and 362.10 points respectively and Tonia Couch of Great Britain who collected 340.10 points.
The championships in Beijing is the first, and will be followed by Dubai, United Arab Emirates (March 17-19); Windsor, Canada (April 15-17); and Kazan, Russia (April 22-24). – Bernama, March 13, 2016.
