Pandelela, Mun Yee win bronze at Diving World Series
National elite divers, Pandelela Rinong and Leong Mun Yee splashed their way to a bronze medal in the women’s 10m synchronised platform in the opening leg of the Diving World Series in Beijing yesterday.
Pandelela, who is partnering Mun Yee for the first time since last July’s World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia, accumulated 311.70 points to beat Meaghan Benfeito-Roseline Filion of Canada to the podium in the top six final.
British duo of Tonia Couch-Lois Toulson won silver with 317.46 points while China’s Si Yajie-Liu Huixia claimed the gold medal with 334.68 points.
Another Malaysian diver Wendy Ng Yan Yee will compete in the women’s 3m springboard individual today.
The remaining legs are in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (March 17-19); Windsor, Canada (April 15-17); and Kazan, Russia (April 22-24). – Bernama, March 12, 2016.
