Sarawak to review football team’s performance

The Sarawak Super League team management will review the performance of its team after facing disappointment in the five matches played so far.

Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) president Datuk Sudarsono Osman, who were among those watching Sarawak drew 1-1 with Kedah at the State Stadium in Petra Jaya last night, expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance.

“We will re-examine the entire team, their training, match performance, the players and coaches' performance during this long break,” he told reporters after last night's match.

He said the players and the team really needed to buck up or the team would not be able to survive in the Super League. The Super League will take a three-week break.

The players lacked the killer stint as could be seen from the many miss chances in front of the goal mouth, he said.

Meanwhile,  Sarawak chief coach Datuk K Rajagobal said that after five

matches played and managed only two draws, the players would need to work double hard and urged fans to be patience.

“I am not giving excuses but injuries hitting several of our players have somehow disrupted our game plan but I am optimistic things will change and they will surely turn around,” he said.

Team manager Abdullah Julaihi, who is also FAS general secretary, said the strikers needed to improve on their sharpness to win matches.   – Bernama, March 13, 2016.
