Facebook iOS app update improves battery life
Facebook says it has made an improvement to its app which should address rapid battery drain. – AFP/Relaxnews pic, October 24, 2015.In a post yesterday, Facebook engineering manager Ari Grant announced an improvement to the Facebook app, reducing its drain on battery life.
Grant acknowledged that there were "a few key issues" resulting in rapid battery drain on the Facebook app for iOS. In his post, he detailed the two main issues: a "CPU spin" in the network code causing repeated processing and a problem with audio session management, when the audio remained running silently in the background.
While the update to the app claims "some improvements that should start making this better", Facebook is not guaranteeing that it will improve phone battery usage. – AFP/Relaxnews, October 24, 2015.
