Grant acknowledged that there were "a few key issues" resulting in rapid battery drain on the Facebook app for iOS. In his post, he detailed the two main issues: a "CPU spin" in the network code causing repeated processing and a problem with audio session management, when the audio remained running silently in the background.

While the update to the app claims "some improvements that should start making this better", Facebook is not guaranteeing that it will improve phone battery usage. – AFP/Relaxnews, October 24, 2015.
