Acknowledging its popularity in emerging markets, where users connect via mobile using 2G, Facebook revealed that it is now testing an update in which it looks at the previously downloaded stories on a phone that a user has not yet viewed and ranks them for relevance.

The company is also testing improvements that will allow it to retrieve new stories throughout the day when the user has a good connection.

Also, says the company, it now possible to comment on stories without an Internet connection – the comment will be posted once a connection becomes available.
