Google CEO Sundar Pinchai made the announcement via his Twitter account on January 12, with a slightly fuller announcement provided to the Google+ I/O community.

In recent years, the developer gathering has favoured San Francisco's Moscone Center, but on the tenth anniversary year of the very first Google Developer Day, participants will be making their way over to Mountain View, where Google's headquarters are located.

"There will be 3 full days together to dive deep into developer content, code labs, and more," wrote Aygul Zagidullina, Google's head of community management, on the Google+ I/O community page.

Planned updates to the Android operating system, suite of Google apps, and new developments tend to be announced during Google I/O events.

The 2015 event also included a section on two new projects to do with the Internet of Things – net-connected products – and the 2016 Google I/O announcement was made on the final day of another Google developer conference, Ubiquity, whose focus was on the very same. – AFP, January 14, 2016.
