AirAsia X to fly to Sapporo from October

AirAsia X Bhd, the leading long-haul low-fare airline, will commence four times weekly direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo, Japan from October 1.

Its acting chief executive officer, Benyamin Ismail said AirAsia X would be the only airline operating direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo.

"We are confident that this route will draw more inbound Japanese tourists from Sapporo who are keen to explore cities in the region.

"This direct route will entice them to visit Malaysia and subsequently take them to various destinations in Asean and beyond,” he said in a statement today.

The airline currently flies five times weekly from Kuala Lumpur to Osaka and daily to Tokyo.

Famed for its fresh seafood, powdery snow, and arts scene, Sapporo, which has a population of 1.9 million, is one of the best places in Japan to visit all year round. – Bernama, July 28, 2015.
