Airbnb selects most Star Wars-inspired properties

Like the modest, dust-topped homes of Tatooine, the selection of properties isn’t glamorous, with the exception of a Swiss ski chalet.
But they’re perhaps as otherworldly as it can get on planet Earth with many of the lodgings set in natural surroundings so that guests can sleep directly under the stars.
As you count down to the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", check out some of the properties around the world where The Force runs stronger than, say, a Hilton hotel.
Bonita Domes West Pod, Joshua Tree, California
Perhaps the most similar in likeness to Luke Skywalker’s home planet Tatooine and the Lars homestead, the terracotta-coloured Sleep Pod Earth Domes are set in the California desert and can sleep families of up to four. Dome walls are built using Earthbag technology that keep buildings cool in the summer and warm in winter.
Elquidomos Astronomical Hotel, Paiguano, Coquimbo, Chile
Designed specifically for star gazers, beds are located strategically on the second floor of the domed hut to place guests as close to the stars as possible. A detachable roof also offers guests a more intimate way to gaze up at the night sky and contemplate the galaxy. Activities include astronomic tours and nocturnal horse rides.

Like spokes on a wheel, individual, spherical pods jut out from a circular walkway and are covered with jungle overgrowth. Pods are clean and bright, furnished with beds, full bathrooms, TVs, communal dining room and pool.

The property is completely off-grid, catching its own rainwater and generating its own electricity thanks to solar panels.
