Anish Kapoor shown alongside Rembrandt in Amsterdam museum
'Internal Object in Three Parts' by Anish Kapoor will be exhibited with Rembrandt in Amsterdam. – AFP Relaxnews pic, November 27, 2015.Following his exhibition this year at the Palace of Versailles in France, Anish Kapoor has turned his sights to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, where his work will be displayed alongside paintings by another art world giant – Rembrandt.
The exhibition will feature "Internal Object in Three Parts 2013-2015". This three-part ensemble created by Kapoor consists of layers of red and white resin and silicon.
These textured paintings are reminiscent of clumps of meat.
These extraordinary works will be exhibited with some of Rembrandt's later paintings such as "The Jewish Bride", "Syndics of the Drapers' Guild", "Titus as a Monk" and "Self-portrait as the Apostle Paul".
The Rijksmuseum often puts the spotlight on big names in contemporary art, such as Damien Hirst in 2008. Some works by Ai Weiwei and Richard Wright are also part of the permanent collection.
Kapoor is known for his giant installations, such as “Leviathan” at the Grand Palais in Paris in 2011.
At the same time as his Palace of Versailles exhibition, his work was also featured at the Jeu de Paume arts centre in Paris in the form of a cannon shooting blood-red wax onto a white wall.
