Located in northern France in the region of Basse-Normandie, Les Guédrils (a French family name) received a perfect score for offering a simple, countryside retreat not far from the area’s main attraction, the soaring Benedictine abbey built in the middle of the bay.
The cottage can sleep up to five people and features a kitchen, two bedrooms, kitchen, two bathrooms, outdoor terrace and garden.
Furnishings are modest, but guest reviews suggest it’s the location that makes the rental stand out.
“We loved the setting, very rural. There were views over the lake from the main bedroom, we even caught sight of an otter swimming. The apartment is beautifully set up and very tastefully decorated, loved the... art hung on the walls,” said one visitor from the UK.
“Would definitely stay here again.”
Overall, 262 properties from around the world on Booking.com received a perfect 10 out of 10 score, a dozen of which hail from France.
