“The Hunger Games: The Exhibition” kicks off its global tour in New York City tomorrow, where fans will be able to view iconic costumes such as the “Girl on Fire” and “Mockingjay” dresses, Mockingjay armour and Katniss’s bow.

Spanning 1,115 square meters, the exhibit is divided into seven galleries that take visitors across Katniss Everdeen’s journey from District 12 to her transformation as the Mockingjay.

The galleries include District 12, Tribute Train, The Capitol, Making the Games, District 13, Fan Gallery and Katniss’s Journey.

Features also include interactive experiences, photography, set recreations and a retail space.

The travelling exhibit kicks off at Discovery Times Square in New York before heading west to San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts Exhibition Hall in February of 2016.

Next year, film studio and entertainment company Lionsgate will also launch a live theatrical Hunger Games experience at a 1,200-seat theatre near Wembley Stadium in England, “The Hunger Games Stage Around.”

It’s not just the “Hunger Games” that have spawned side businesses into travelling exhibits.

British period drama Downton Abbey has also been turned into a costume tour with more than 35 dresses and suits exhibited in “Dressing Downton: Changing Fashion for Changing Times.”

Curated to show the evolution of fashion throughout 20th century Britain, the exhibit is currently in Wisconsin but travels to Chicago and Anaheim, California among other US stops.

Likewise, fans of the TV series “The Walking Dead” are being offered the chance to board a three-day cruise to the Caribbean in January 2016 with fellow zombies the cast of the show including Norman Reedus (Daryl), Chandler Riggs (Carl) and Emily Kinney (Beth).

Tickets to the Hunger Games Exhibition are US$29.50 (RM112). – AFP/RelaxNews, June 30, 2015.
