Find out just what the island state has in store for you next month:

Laneway Festival 2016

A yearly gathering of up-and-coming and off-the-mainstream-radar artistes, Laneway Festival 2016 is back for the sixth time running.

Happening on January 30, 2016 at The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay, the music festival is just the thing to kick off an amazing February in Singapore.

The line-up this year includes names like Chvrches, Grimes, Beach House, East India Youth and many more. In addition to great music, there is also fun in the sun, be it soaking up the sunshine or trying out the various activity tents.

The River Hongbao Festival

Chinese New Year is not just a time for joyous reunions and prosperous dinners but also a chance to take part in the festivities at the lively River Hongbao festival, an annual event in Singapore's festive calendar.

The Lunar New Year is marked by beautiful lantern displays and exciting fireworks shows with acts, both local and international, promising unforgettable performances. Amusement rides and carnival lights add to the fun of an auspicious celebration heralding springtime.

No good festival is complete without good food so head over to Singapore's largest Food Street for a delicious spread of local delights with a side of nostalgia for olden day Chinatown.

Chingay Parade

Chinese New Year in Singapore gets even livelier with Asia's largest street performance and float parade. The vibrant parade brings together people from different races, putting together a spectacular performance reflecting the multicultural society of the small nation.

The theme of this year's parade is “Lights of Legacy, Brighter Singapore”, marking the first year following the country's 50th birthday. It promises a blazing flying dragon from China as well as acts by local talents, aerial stunts, fireworks and many more.

The main parade will take place at 8pm on February 19, 2016 in the F1 Pit Building and tickets have gone on sale already.

Apart from festivals and parades, travellers can also take in the sights and sounds of some of Singapore's most recognisable landmarks like the Botanic Gardens, a Unesco World Heritage Site full of lush greenery as a reprieve from the concrete jungle. If not, Gardens by the Bay is a beautiful eco-park with tonnes of activities for the family.

If you're already planning a visit to Singapore to soak up the festive atmosphere, Far East Hospitality has a range of hotels in strategic locations for every taste and budget, including the art-meets-business Rendezvous Hotel. – January 11, 2016.
